The World of Rob Portier
Rob Portier is an artist residing in Breda, The Netherlands. Rob’s main medium is wood but he also paints and does traditional sculpting. I met Rob on new year’s eve 2007 and became immediately intrigued with his views of the world and his artwork that is closely connected to it.
Rob loves nature and when he is out there admiring pieces of wood sticking out of the ground or water catch his interest, even though most of it is underground or under water. He digs it out, cleans it up and investigates what nature has brought him.
His philosophy is that he is supposed to find it at the right time and that it is related to something that is going on in the world or with people he knows. Since Rob cares very much about people he uses his art for the better and he shares it with people to help them.
Rob has been showing his artwork at many exhibitions:
- Try Out : Verpleeghuis Aeneas Breda 2004
- 1e Kunstexpositie Nieuw Leven , January 2005
- Grote of Onze Lieve Vrouwekerk Breda , cultuur podium Breda 2005
